Afrigraph Conference
Every 18 months a conference is held to celebrate new research and excellence in graphics. Information on previous conferences can be found below.
Afrigraph has decided to delay the next conference until the international financial climate improves.

Africa. The keynote speaker was Marc Alexa.

Afrigraph 2001: The first Afrigraph conference took place from 5-7 November 2001 at the Bay Hotel in Camps Bay, Cape Town . The conference was generously sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH and Eurographics. The conference was attended by 66 local and international delegates with speakers from South Africa, Swaziland, Botswana, England, America, and Germany . The papers and tutorials covered topics ranging from digital reconstruction of African art works and computer relighting of archaeological sites to the latest virtual reality hardware and software. The conference contributions were rigorously reviewed by an international programme committee, which selected less than half the initial submissions. |

Afrigraph 2003: The second Afrigraph conference was held from 3-5 February 2003 at Belmont Square in Cape Town . The conference was attended by 65 local and international delegates. The papers and tutorials were wide-ranging: from automated sign language translation to calculating visibility in three-dimensional scenes. A highlight of the conference was the availability of wireless internet access and the loan of wireless network cards to delegates |

Afrigraph 2004: The 3rd international Afrigraph conference was held near the picturesque town of Stellenbosch, in the Winelands just outside of Cape Town from 3-5 November 2004. The conference was attended by 60 delegates and included a large number of international attendees. Papers covered a wide range of topics including NPR, modelling, visualization and real-time rendering. The conference tutorials were delivered by a group of high profile women from the CG field, and served as the culminating event for the Women in CG tour. |

Afrigraph 2006: the 4th International Conference on Virtual Reality, Computer Graphics, Visualization and Interaction in Africa (AG2006) was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 25-27 January 2006, and drew delegates from as far a field as Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the U.S.A. A highlight of this conference was the keynote address by Ken Perlin. |

Afrigraph 2007: the 5th International Conference on Virtual Reality, Computer Graphics, Visualization and Interaction in Africa (AG2007) was held at Rhodes University, Grahamstown in October 2007. The keynote address was given by Tom Furness. |

Reality, Computer Graphics, Visualization and Interaction in Africa
(AG2009) was held in Pretoria. The keynote address was presented by Roberto Scopigno and the plenary by David Levin.
